Ópera "La Sargento de la Concepción"

Two New Starts Rise in the Opera Heavens
An extraordinary new pair of starts is ever so brightly shinning in the vast heavens of the Opera World.
Star number one is a brilliant, charming, handsome twenty-one years old positive composer from Chile, South American named Patricio Molina.
Star number two is his magnificent new Opera; first grand Opera, which he composed, named “La Sargento de la Concepción” (“The Sargent of the Battle of Concepcion”)
Maestro Molina is an emerging Spanish Renaissance man for all seasons. He is a piano virtuoso, composer of some ninety piano works, composer of a vicarious ballet, compassionate choral conductor and an organist personified.
European and American Opera houses carry a limited, if any repertoire of Spanish Opera. And now, is the joyous hour of change! Spain, the many countries of central and South America are ready for this virgin birth and not forgetting the United States where Patricio Molina lives, studies and composes.
“La Sargento de la Concepción” is a romantic Opera based on an actual event from South American history. Seventy-seven solders from Chile crashed against 2,000 men in the town of Concepción, Perú, in an epic battle that lasted two days and terminated all the lives of the Chilean solders who never surrendered. However, this Opera evokes a true love story between Cecilia and Carlos, a couple that decided to battle together until the end. On July 9, 1883, Cecilia conceived a boy in the middle of a heroic battle that ended the life of Carlos, who had the chance to see the first minutes of his newly son’s life.
The Work consists in Three Acts. The first act shows the environment of a typical Chilean life in the 1880s. During the Second act, between Chilean dances, it becomes clear the motives of war, pain and uncertainty. Finally, the third act is characterized by the actual battle of July 9-10 1883.
This upcoming September 22nd, 2011 there will be the highlights premiere at the Bergen Community College in Hackensack NJ. Conceived by a unique cast made up of Spanish speaking musicians; Conducted by Maestro Ramon Catalan, and sang by Caroline Braga (Cecilia), Emmanuel Cruz (Carlos), Allyson Carvajal and Sasha Leon (Cecilia’s friends), this evening of music promises to surprise the Opera World with a unique style of South-American melodies, flavor and history.
American intellectual writer, author of twenty books about intelligence, is a well traveled Creative Consciousness inspirational lecturer and teacher. He is also a published author, an organist and a choral director, plus a retired non-denominational minister.
